Monday 26 December, St. Stephen, at 21:00 at the Casa del Jazz (Concert Hall) will perform in a lecture-concert”  the Spirit World Orchestra conducted by Mario Donatone.

Gospel is a genre that crosses and affects the whole history of American music and its styles and influences its course while remaining faithful to its original inspiration, characterized by the world’s oldest instruments, voices and hands. A concert of rich historical and literary evolution of this music born as far back as 700 during the segregation of African in American soil.

MARIO DONATONE is a pianist and singer considered one of the best representatives of the classic blues and soul in Italy. It has become known as a soloist with 6 albums on the assets in his name, as well as accompanist for soloists and groups of black American blues and gospel on tour in Italy and in Europe since the 80s.

A pioneer of the gospel in Rome and in Italy, has been pursuing for more than twenty years in parallel with a passionate creator of the solo choirs and vocal groups, exerting the effort to open the language gospel to jazz and world influences.

With the direction of Mario Donatone will also perform the WORLD SPIRIT ORCHESTRA, an arts educational workshop started in October at the Casa del Jazz to create a modern choir , a real orchestra of voices ranging from gospel, pop, jazz and world, with the aim of encouraging more modern and choral traditions of giving space to young talents who are focused on these speech genres. The laboratory of the Casa del Jazz Choir is open to all prior hearings and meets every Tuesday at 17:30 in the recording room of the Casa del Jazz.

Lunedi 26 dicembre, S.Stefano, alle ore 21:00 presso la Casa del Jazz (sala concerti) si esibirà in una “lezione-concerto” la World Spirit Orchestra diretta da Mario Donatone.

Il gospel è un genere che attraversa e condiziona tutta la storia della musica americana e i suoi stili e ne influenza il corso restando sempre fedele alla sua ispirazione primitiva, caratterizzata dagli strumenti più antichi del mondo, le voci e le mani. Un concerto arricchito di cenni storici e letterari sull’evoluzione di questa musica nata nel lontano ‘700 durante la segregazione degli africani in terra americana.

MARIO DONATONE è un pianista e cantante considerato tra i migliori rappresentanti della classicità blues e soul in Italia. Si è fatto conoscere come solista con 6 albums a suo nome all’attivo, oltre che come accompagnatore di gruppi e solisti neroamericani di blues e gospel in tournée in Italia e in Europa sin dagli anni ’80.

Pioniere del gospel a Roma e in Italia, persegue da più di venti anni parallelamente all’attività solistica quella di appassionato creatore di cori e gruppi vocali, esercitando lo sforzo di aprire il linguaggio gospel ad influenze jazz e world.

Con la direzione di Mario Donatone si esibirà anche la WORLD SPIRIT ORCHESTRA, un laboratorio didattico artistico attivo da ottobre alla Casa del Jazz per la creazione di un coro moderno stabile, una vera e propria orchestra di voci che spazia tra gospel, pop, jazz e world, con l’intento di dare impulso alle tradizioni corali più moderne e di dare spazio a giovani talenti vocali che sono orientati su questi generi musicali. Il laboratorio del Coro della Casa del Jazz è aperto a tutti previo audizione e si riunisce tutti i martedi alle 17:30 nella sala di registrazione della Casa del Jazz.
