Il desiderio di sentire di nuovo il calore delle risate del pubblico è stata la molla per la costruzione di questo nuovo testo, in tour dal 2012. Come i precedenti lavori, anche questo, è costituito da quadri, che, a loro volta, rappresentano la vita quotidiana con i suoi paradossi al limite dell’assurdo. Un cadavere tra i piedi di due improbabili tecnici della tv è solo una sfortunata coincidenza o, come nella migliore “dietrologia italiana”, c’è un oscuro manovratore? Le leve del potere attuale sono in mano a “menti raffinatissime” disposte a tutto, o a uomini normali con i loro limiti? Il fanatismo religioso apre le porte del paradiso o da vita a situazioni dai risvolti assurdi e perciò divertenti? Insomma i due comici, prendendo spunto dalla vita di tutti i giorni, piena di cronaca nera, politica, religione e tanto altro, ci offrono, con la leggerezza che li contraddistingue, una riflessione divertente sulla nostra società e sulla nostra nazione, regalandoci uno spettacolo dai colori forti ancora una volta scritto e interpretato da Ficarra & Picone.

Genesis is the last great work of Sebastião Salgado, the most important documentary photographer of our time: a passionate look, tended to emphasize the need to protect our planet, to change our way of life, to acquire new behavior more respectful of nature and what surrounds us, to gain a new harmony.

The world as it was, the world as it is, and the earth as a magnificent resource to behold, know, love. This is the purpose and value of the last extraordinary project of Sebastião Salgado.

Showcasing over 200 unique photographs: the tropical forests of the Amazon, the Congo, Indonesia and New Guinea to the glaciers of Antarctica, from the taiga of Alaska to the deserts of Africa and up to the mountains of America, Chile and Siberia. Sebastão Salgado’s Genesis is a photographic journey across five continents to document with images in black and white of great charm, the rare beauty of our planet.

Salgado has produced the photographs that will be exhibited at the Ara Pacis, seeking out those parts of the world still untouched, those segments of life still intact, in which our planet is still in its magnificent beauty and where the elements, earth, flora, animals and humans live in  miraculous harmony, as in a perfect symphony of nature. The exhibition is divided into five sections that follow the geographical areas in which Salgado has produced photographs: Planet South, The Shrines of Nature, Africa, the Far North, the Amazon and the Pantanal and has a number of great landscape photos made with the aim of capturing a world where nature, animals and living beings still live in balance with the environment. Another part of the work brings together the photographs of animals etched into the lens of Salgado through a long process of identification with their natural habitats. The photographer has been living in the Galapagos including giant tortoises, iguanas and sea lions, he traveled between the zebras and other wildlife that pass through Kenya and Tanzania, answering the call of nature to the annual migration.

Unique journey exploring our environment, Salgado’s latest project is an attempt, a complete success, to create a sort of grand planetary anthropology. But it is also a cry for help for our planet and a warning that we try to preserve this world still untouched, so that in the time we live in, development is not synonymous with destruction.

Sebastião Ribeiro Salgado was born on 8 February 1944 in Aimorés in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. At 16 he moved to the nearby Vitoria, where does the high school and started studying at university. In 1967 he married Lelia Deluiz Wanick. After further studies in Sao Paulo, the two move to Paris and then London, where Sebastião works as an economist for the International Organization for Coffee. In 1973 he returned with his wife to Paris to pursue a career as a photographer. Working first as a freelancer and then for the photo agencies Sygma, Gamma and Magnum to create then with the agency Lelia Amzonas Images, Sebastião travels a lot, he first worked by the Indians and peasants of Latin America, and the famine in Africa to the mid-eighties. These images are included in his early books. Between 1986 and 2001 he devoted himself mainly to two projects. Documents before the end of the industrial labor on a large scale in the book Workers: An Archaeology of the Industrial Age (1993) and in the exhibitions that accompany the release (presented in 7 different Italian cities). So documenting humanity on the move, not only refugees and displaced persons, but also migrants to the huge megacities of the Third World, in two critically acclaimed books: The Children: Refugees and Migrants (2000) and Migrations (2000). Large traveling exhibitions (at the Quirinal Stables in Rome and then in Milan Arengario Royal Palace) also accompanied in this case the output of the books.
